Intro to School Milk Programme
The Malaysian National School Milk Programme, known as Program Susu Sekolah (PSS), was officially launched in 1983 by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. It was introduced as a supplementary initiative to the existing Rancangan Makanan Tambahan (RMT), which had been implemented since 1979 with an aim to foster good eating habits so that students remain healthy and energetic.
Objective
To improve the nutritional status and overall health of Malaysian school children, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, through regular milk consumption.
Target Audience
The School Milk Programme is primarily aimed at students in selected government primary schools across Malaysia, typically from low-income, Indigenous People, and physically disabled students.
Mechanics
• Consumption of milk (200ml) every schooling day
• Milk products distributed directly to schools. Schools work with suppliers & district offices to manage delivery, monitoring.

What is the meaning of Healthier Choice Logo on the product packaging of Dutch Lady Milk?
The Healthier Choice Logo (HCL) initiative by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, plays a vital role in guiding consumers toward making healthier dietary choices
When consumers see this logo on food or beverage products, they can be confident that these items meet the Healthier Choice Criteria set by the Ministry of Health.
The milk we supply under the School Milk Programme contains:-
- More than 150mg of Calcium per 100ml
- No added sugar for plain milk
- Less than 7g total sugar content (including lactose) per 100ml for flavoured milk
- A source of Vitamins B2, A, B12 and high in Vitamin D
What are the Nutritional Requirements
required to fulfill the HCL Logo?

•HCL Statement must be displayed below the HCL Logo. There is no specific font size and format for the statement but it needs to be readable.
•Excludes infant formula, all special purposes food, FMPC & any milk products that targeted to specific group. HCL Products shall not be labelled or promoted in any way that will promote the products under the scope of code of ethics for the marketing of the infant foods & related products directly or indirectly.
1. Products must contain a minimum quantity of one of the listed nutrients. Refer to specific nutrient values as shown in Annex I.
2. Refers to processed slice cheese.

What is the
Nutritious Claim?
A “nutritious claim” means the food provides a balanced range of essential nutrients, including carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. To qualify, it must:
• Provide more than 40 kcal per 100g or 20 kcal per 100ml.
• Contain at least 5g of protein per 100g.
• Include at least 4 vitamins and 2 minerals (excluding sodium) in amounts that meet the criteria.
